Why White?

Some people might be wondering why I would paint over oak cabinets, and why white? Well, why not? White is classic, it's timeless. Plus, I love me a white kitchen! I am very happy with the way our cabinets turned out. Right now things are on hold because we have a piece of counter top that doesn't fit. The new piece is ready, we just have to figure out a time to pick it up. After that I will attempt to install a white subway tile back splash. I also need to figure out what I want to do on the walls. I have a lot of ideas, maybe too many, I can't decide!

In honor of fabulous white kitchens everywhere, here are some inspiration pictures that I love.

Tacky Sweaters

We went to a Tacky Christmas Sweater Party on Saturday night. It was so much fun!! We didn't win the contest, but I thought we looked great! My sweater had a weird mixture of bears, who were also wearing Christmas sweaters, hearts, and holly berries. Sergio's was a wonderful mix of cardinals and pine cones. They were beautiful!

Everything is starting to come together. So now everything is getting a good cleaning and will be put back in its place. Yay!!!

Hardware, Check!

All of the hardware is officially installed. Other than that, not much has changed. I touched up the doors so I should be finished painting for now. The walls need to be painted but I am waiting to see how it looks with everything all put together. I'm not sure if I want to stick with the current color or try something different. We should be getting counter tops soon. I am picking up the faucet tomorrow, I can't wait to see everything back in its place! Besides the counter tops, all we have to do is install crown molding on the cabinets and install the tile back splash.

Waiting For Dad

All I have to say is "Dad is going to be home soon!", and this is where he sits, and waits........

This is Roscoe tonight, wishing I would leave him alone

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like........

A kitchen!! I have cabinet doors again!! I was a busy bee on Wednesday. I installed the drawer pulls, which was a breeze because Johnny is a genius! The pulls were metric and the template I had wasn't, but he fixed that! I was also able to intall the rest of the cabinet doors and I finally feel like things are coming together. There is still a lot to be done, but I feel like the worst is over.

An Over the Range Microwave?

Who would have thought? I never thought I could have an over the range microwave in this house. I have thought about it before, but I just figured it would be a HUGE pain in the butt. Well, it was a HUGE pain in the butt. But thanks to Johnny and Sergio (Sergio's dad), we now have one! This is not something we had planned to do. But considering the microwave was priced at about $400 less than its original price, it was hard to pass up. We had to stagger the cabinets, but it will look better once we put crown molding on them. We are waiting on the counter tops, they should be here in about 2-3 weeks. All I have left to do is paint the top cabinet doors. The end is near!

One Year Ago

I was going through my pictures of Lucy and I found some pictures of her from last Halloween. She was a cute little lady bug. It is so fun to look back in time and see how much she has changed!

Trick or Treat

I had a little visitor last night, Minnie Mouse! I must say she was the cutest Minnie Mouse I have ever seen. She had a small obsession with the candy, but that's ok, that kind of stuff is allowed on Halloween. She had a trick too!

And, Just because he is cute!

Roscoe wanted to say hello! He will be a year old sometime in November! They grow up so quickly...

Progress is slow...

Everything is back in its place, including the dishwasher. It's just not hooked up yet, bummer, I know. But we are ready for counter tops, and we have made our decision. We are going with black, you can't go wrong with a classic black and white kitchen, right? Lets hope...

One Week Later

My last post was exactly a week ago and we had just started on the base cabinets. Well, they are now completely painted. It isn't an easy task but the kitchen is looking brighter already so that makes it all worth while.

Progress

We started painting the cabinets yesterday. We are making progress, but things aren't moving as quickly as I would like them to. It takes a while to get used to using a paint sprayer. I'm still not sure if I'm very good at it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out.

Our kitchen floors are finished! They are still wet and very shiny but I couldn't wait to take pictures. The difference is amazing!

This is how we have been living for the past few days...

Isn't She Pretty!!

Yeah, right.....
Pretty is not exactly what I would call it. It's more like a disaster area. We have taken all of the lower cabinets out. All of the floor is exposed and they are being refinished on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully we will be able to start painting the cabinets soon. Sergio and I are already freaked out, its really weird not having a kitchen. What did we get ourselves into???

Doggone Fun!!!

Roscoe had the opportunity to go swimming tonight. The recreation center lets dogs swim in the pool before they close it for the season. He had a blast!! He loved playing with the other dogs. As you can tell he wouldn't hold still long enough for us to get a good picture. Thank you Kristin for letting us know about it!!
