Las Vegas

We had a good time in Vegas, but we ar happy to be home. It is a very busy city with lots of things to do, and they all involved a lot of walking. We stayed at the Jockey Club, see it down there....at the bottom of the picture... It is nothing special but for the price you can't beat it. It is mostly for owners of time shares, so from what I understand all of the room are suites. It was nice having the extra space. We were smashed in between the Bellagio and the new City Center, so the location was pretty great! The Jockey Club is connected to The Cosmopolitan, which just opened in December of 2010. So with a short walk and an elevator ride we were able to use the amenities there, including the pool!! We were on the second floor, but if your lucky enough to get a suite on one of the top floors you would have a view of the fountains at The Bellagio. You can kind of see the water and part of The Bellagio in the picture below.

Nate Made Me Do It...

For those who don't know, this is Nate Berkus.


He is a really great designer, and he has a show on CBS. I just recently started watching his show, and the other day he voiced his opinion on accent walls. Well, he doesn't like them. He said something along the lines of "If you like the color enough to put it on one wall, why not put it on all four walls?" It makes sense, and it gave me just the push I needed. You see, I have an accent wall...

I don't know why I insisted this wall should be an accent wall. It has been 2 different colors since we bought the house. I thought I would like the chocolate brown, but it has never felt right to me. So... I fixed that!

All four walls are the same color now and I like it so much better. I have always loved this color, I don't know why I didn't just put it on the fourth wall from the start. Now just imagine my pretty chandelier hanging above the table!

20 Must Be My Lucky Number

We made a sudden decision to visit the Habitat For Humanity ReStore today. We haven't been in a while so it's sort of fun to just go and see what they might have. Today I was surprised to see a lot of really nice vessel sinks in all kinds of colors and styles. I also went with lighting in mind, I have seen some really cool tranformations in blogland so I was hoping to find something I could make pretty. There were a few hopefuls but they were asking too much for them. So, we continued to browse when I saw this...

It is missing one of the sleeves to cover the socket, but that doesn't bother me it can be replaced. Plus it reminded me of a chandelier I have seen at Pottery Barn, a $399 chandelier...

Am I right?? Pretty close? The ReStore had it marked $30, but I was more comfortable with $20. So we took it up to the register and worked out a deal, they took $20! So far everything I have bought from there has cost me $20. Our shutters, ALL the tile for our kitchen, and now a new dining room chandelier! I will be looking for shades to put on it but hopefully I can find a deal on those too.

We have blooms!!

So Here's the Breakdown...

Sergio and I have been off work for a week. And what that means is, there was some much needed attention paid to our house and unfinished projects. Today, Jeremy came over, and guess what?!!! We have steps!! And plants, and mulch!! And I love it!!!

Did you notice the front porch is painted??? If you look at the previous post you might notice it looks all ugly and partially brown with chipping paint. Not anymore! That was my project.

Also in the works, is our basement. I don't have any before pictures, you should be thankful, it was gross. It had a drop ceiling, moldy drywall, and it smelled real bad. The smell was an easy fix and that is my favorite part, that is all I needed to make me happy. But thanks to a good friend we now have fresh drywall, installed professionally and correct.

See this bathroom? It had a wooden toilet seat and a teeny tiny, really ugly vanity. All that, gone... Also see where there is a gray rectangle on the floor by the doorway? There was a bump out right there that made the doorway and bathroom feel really small. So we got rid of that and now its soooo much better!
Sergio has spent most of his week in the basement. I have helped a little down there, but I must say it has been nice to kinda sit back and watch him take charge of a project.
